hi!
I have some problems with oil leaking from the clutch cover gasket so i removed the panel and realist that there is an oil pressure thing there and the gasket was in front of it and had some holes in it for the oil to get threw. So now my question is, do i need a oem gasket or can i use a liquid gasket/rtv. Im not good with engines so i dont know what do to.
If there's an existing gasket, I would think you should replace with an actual gasket rather than an rtv/liquid gasket product--which can often end up where you don't intend it to be. I'm not sure OEM is strictly necessary, but I'm also not sure that there's an aftermarket product that's a direct fit for this part. In any case, I can't imagine the OEM gasket being too terribly expensive. Check Ron Ayers or Parts Pit Stop. Those are two sites I've found with the best OEM part pricing.
the problem is that i live in sweden and here its not that easy to find gaskets to this model. if i wanna buy it from another country then i have to pay like 20-100 dollars for shipping and the gasket only cost like 10 dollars. i got a tube of rtv at home that i bought for 20 dollars so it would really suck if i have to pay alot more...
I'm assuming your talking about OEM part No2.
US$13.76 + US$6.99 shipping to Sweden............affordable.

If the question was "do i need a oem gasket or can i use a liquid gasket/rtv".......my answer is;BETTER to do it properly.
ofc its better to do it right but will it hurt my engine. i cant find any information if the gasket has any effect on the oil pressure. i already got a gasket coming soon but it might not come and i am going to restore an engine that had crashed so i wanna know if i need the gasket or if i can use rtv. i have even asked some people that work with suzikie bikes and they dont even know if you need it or not.
If you don't block oil passages it is safe. There isn't anything magical about fiber gaskets.
I don't remember if there are oil passages besides the pressure gauge but obv if you block one you could ruin the engine. If you block the oil pressure gauge the oil pressure light will stay lit up.
It sounds like you're planning to use RTV regardless what advice we might give. Try it and let us know what happens. :thumb:
My cousin used liquid gasket stuff on his bike, the oil leak was still happening a little bit afterwards and then it was a harder job to clean up the old oem gasket and liquid stuff, then he put new gasket and all ok.
So he had to do same job twice! .. if it worked the first time he would be happy but you would need to make very sure of a complete job with liquid gasket!
