Title: Dropped on left side, Oil leak?
Post by: Kayla on June 14, 2016, 04:03:27 PM
Hello!

I recently got my first bike, 2002 GS500E  8)

I dropped it on its left side while pulling into a parking space, when I pulled it up there was oil running down the side. I wiped it off and let it sit for a while and didn't notice any more oil on the ground or the cover, and its oil level was good. However when I start it up, it seems to drip from the upper left most bolt on the cover, maybe a drip every minute or so. It DID have a slow oil leak I knew about when buying it, was told it's good when topped off at the start of the season and I've checked it once a week with no problems. Though I never actually looked that close while it was running to know if the current leak is normal or not.

What's the best way to proceed in determining if there is any issues? Should I try driving it a bit and checking the oil? Should I just try replacing the cover gasket?

Thanks!
