I'm in the process of rebuilding the carbs on my 2007 GS500F using the K&L kit, but for the life of me I can't figure out where the indicated o-ring is intended to go. I haven't found one this size as I've been disassembling the left carb and I'm wondering if I've dropped something without realizing it or if I haven't disassembled everything yet. It seems way too big for the fuel/air mixture screw (which I think is the tiny o-ring just to the lower left of the circled one) but to be honest, I haven't drilled the cap off yet so I don't know for certain. The only other o-ring on the parts fiche is related to the choke, but the size seems off for that too.

What am I missing?
I'm not saying this specifically in your case,but keep in mind i nearly got caught with a Hayabusa front caliper rebuild kit.It had more seals than what was necessary so i simply used what i needed,swapping like for like.
I think that's the oring that goes on the bottom of the white plastic slide guide. They were a bit tight on mine and tricky to remove.
If I remember correctly I loosened the jet and used it to pop the slide guide up a bit, then I believe I used an M5 bolt to push it the rest of the way. My memory of this is a bit foggy but I do remember pulling mine was fruitless, I had to push it from the bottom.

I suppose it's possible that K&L has an o-ring that's not specifically for the 2004-2009 GS500F in the kit, though I did look up the correct kit in the 2016 K&L product guide to ensure I had the right part number prior to ordering. Both of the kits are identical as they both have the o-ring. However, the kit is also listed for the '99-'09 GZ250.

I haven't seen anything that makes me believe the same removable slide guide exists in the 2004+ carbs. The one in the 04+ carbs is metal, but it doesn't appear to follow the same form. In other words, I don't see where it would need to have an o-ring attached, but I may have missed something. I also don't get the feeling that the slide guide is meant to be removed on the newer carbs.

Also, for the record, I'm taking plenty of pics with the intention of adding them to the carb parts sticky for the '04+ carbs when I'm finished. There is a lot of detail there for the older carbs but not much for the newer, which only helps confuse people working on the newer carbs. Even the Haynes manual is found lacking for some details in the newer carbs, at least with regard to pictures.
I know I tend to work best with a combination of visual and written reference material, so I have to believe some others are like that too.
Its the float seat O ring. Its held in with a tiny screw with a phillips head, torqued down to a precise 129.3 lb-ft, so you're gonna need a micro head JIS impact driver for it.

So I'm 93% sure at least part of that is exaggeration and/or BS for '04+ carbs...but since it's Buddha I'm trying to reconcile with what I'm seeing and what I've already found. If this was for the float seat, wouldn't I have one to replace with this? The new float seat (assembly) has an o-ring on it already, which at first glance appears to be the same size as the one on the original float seat that I removed. Unless I'm mixing things up...which is always possible. :confused:
