Title: Possible Carb issue?
Post by: DatBoi on June 20, 2016, 11:22:16 AM
So as you all know I have a 92' GS500E. The bike seems to studder or miss in the low end (2500 and lower) when starting off and I can't go WOT without the bike bogging until like 7200RPM. From there on its nothing but sheer power. Would it be running too rich causing it to bog? I've went through and at least cleaned the carbs and put new plugs and stuff like that in since I've bought it, but I wanna tackle that.

Possible fixes or solutions?

I had similar problem when my needle valve o-ring was bad. But I also had fuel smell. I don't know if that helps but its not nothing.

Hey this is off topic but DatBoi do you play diep.io under that same name?  Because if so you have got to stop killing me!

@lucas; Not a clue on what that game is, haha.

@78530i; So essentially the carbs needs rebuilding cause that's the technical term for jet.

Alright, I appreciate it!

If you are saying needle valve is same as jet, it's not. Its the stopper for when your floats rise up. If you cant smell fuel, that's probably not the problem.

Sounds like clogged ports in the carbs. Take it apart and clean it. Check that all air passages are clean. The 7200 is right about where the needle would start to raise off the seat and allow fuel to come from the main jet. Does it have problems idle?

@Jespenshade12: It does struggle at idle now until I bang a few gears a few times and get it good and hot.
