Title: Fuel supply issue
Post by: Mbrantang on June 28, 2016, 11:02:24 AM
Hi again everyone,
Managed to solve the right cylinder not fireing. Now I am haveing issues with my fuel supply. When I have my tank off with a funnel on the reserve line the bike runs perfectly. As soon as I put the tank on the bike dies as soon as I touch the throttle.

So far I have cleaned the screen on the tank petcock and made sure that it's good and clean. Still the same issue. I removed said screen and the problem persisted.

Since the bike perform perfect with the funnel I feel as though something is amiss with the tank. Any great ideas from the hive mind?

If you are putting the funnel on the reserve line of the frame mounted petcock then that petcock is probably not the problem...

Did you make sure the slot on the tank-valve is straight up and down?  The valve might not be open.

The screen in the tank petcock might be clogged.

There might be a blockage inside the tank petcock (past the screen)

There might be a blockage on the houses from the tank petcock to the frame petcock.

There is an air valve in the cap of the tank, it might be plugged... But I doubt that would develop symptoms on start up, but rather at higher rpms.

As long as those things are clear (and you do indeed have gas in the tank) then the gas tank is nothing more than a metal funnel.

Dumb questions from a newbie

1. Did you by any chance kink any lines when the tank was installed?

2. Was the tank the ONLY thing you installed after it ran good? (Airbox and filter?)

Hi, thanks for the replays. This is what I have so far still no change; new lines, checked booth the petcocks for blockage, lines are not linked, filters are clean.

Waiting for battery to charge. Raised the level in the float as it was a bit low.
