Title: Throttle cable query
Post by: user11235813 on July 04, 2016, 10:24:53 PM
Howdy,

I am looking at the throttle cable where it attaches to the carb and I'm wondering how to unhook it. Do I keep turning the big collar, or do I need to loosen stuff at the other end near the grip? I'm just trying to get the valve cover out. thanks.

OK I got the front cable out but I cannot see how to get to the rear cable. I'll take the airbox off and report back.

OK I got it, needed to get the airbox out. Hope this helps someone else at least.

There's a couple videos in the sticky thread above that detail both cleaning carbs and checking valve clearances. Both show how to remove the throttle cables.

Additionally, both the Haynes and Clymer manuals detail this. Obtaining one of these should be a prerequisite to anything more in-depth than general routine maintenance.
