Thinking my bike is running way rich and chewing the fuel, but I don't know what sorter numbers I should be looking at! or what sorter fuel I should be running.
Hence the question, thanks for you time.

420 to 440 klicks on 15 to 16 liters before I switch to reserve, works out to over 80 mpg. I have an 04f with 17 tooth front sprocket, 140 rear tire, and size 20 pilots.

forgot to add thats on regular gas at 87 octane with 10% ethanol.
FFIW, on a 2010 model that is running pretty good, using 91 octane fuel which is the lowest octane available in Australia, I get 25kms/litre.
I get about 67 mpg around town and 85 on a long run. That's on an 09f with everything standard and 87 octane fuel.
I get 40 to 50 MPG (US gallon) with regular fuel 10% ethanol
'98 E... I get about 120 miles on a tank before switching to reserve... use 87... I do a lot of short trips, stop n go, etc... rarely do I get out for a long ride, highway, etc but what can ya do :icon_rolleyes:
91 Octane which is the lowest available here and NO ethanol.
I am usually a gentle rider and average around 28-29 kpl so that gives me about 570km or 345 miles on a K9 tank.
Bike is standard except for gearing (different sprockets).

Filled up today at 156 miles. I get anywhere from 130 to 160 without reserve. I commute on motorways and can exceed 80 mph cruise.
Filled up a few minutes ago, 147 Miles on 3.78 gallons 91 octane ~$10
Around Texas, we only get the option of 87/89/91 octane

Your fuel is still a bit cheaper over there, compared to here.
I paid about 5% more than that (after conversion) at the cheapest point in the cycle. At the top of the cycle it would be about 20% dearer than what you quoted. I don't know if your retailers play silly games like here but our price jumps by 20cpl (about 70c/gallon) and then trickles down a cent each step over the next 2-3 weeks until the bottom price and then jumps again!
I believe that the way your Octane is calculated over there is different to most of the rest of us and that your 87 is equivalent to our 91. Correct me if I am wrong.

I have no idea how they calculate it.
It's generally steady, beginning of summer it was around $2.20/gal for 91. Now it's around $2.65 for 91. Pretty normal price hikes for the season. It'll start going back down in a two months When fall comes around.
But I did go to Italy a week ago, man that gas calculated to almost $5.50 for a gallon of the cheapest! Now I see why so many Europeans drive small displacement cars and mopeds.
Back when I first got my bike. ... and was puttering around mostly under 90km/h. .. I'd get a touch over 500km on a tank (06f) ...
Once I got into it more it averaged about 420km.....
A few times when I've been a complete ratbag on the throttle and given the bike a hard workout I didn't even get 300km. ..
Mostly using Aussie 95 or 10%ethanol 94...
Giving long term consistent figures is quite tricky tho... the fuel range is entirely dependant on engine/throttle/gear/terrain workload!...
Superslabbing or hypermiling or ultra smooth granny commuting will give you an idea of potential. .. but you gotta open the taps sometime!
Riding in groups helps too because bikes have terrible aero. Following a bike increases fuel economy whereas following a car generally does not.
My record is 70mpg following a pack of bikes.
Following a horse float or uhaul type trailer will get you buffeted to hell and back! ... worse than semi trailers!
