So with the build complete, and lately a freshly re-trimmed custom seat, I'm done to one last problem. After installing the clubman bars, which I really like on the bike, I'm not liking the angle of the master cylinder. I know a few people have done this conversion, and was wondering aside from using the factory clip on bar master cylinder, which I can't seem to source in Qld, what have other people done to get the right angle. I know there are looks of nice looking ebay universal type ones out there, however I'm not too keen on doing the ebay thing on something as important as brakes
When I decided to put Suburban Machine bars on my GS...I agonized over the fact that the master cylinder reservoir would be at a weird angle. I finally went for it anyway. It doesn't matter! A bit tricky when you change out the fluid and have to refill the reservoir...you have to turn the bars, and tilt the bike...but once full...the reservoir doesn't care if it is at an angle.
My "other" bike...which is a true Cafe Racer, the reservoir is like at 45 degree angle...works fine.

Aside from the weird angle my other motivation was to replace the factory levers also. Having purchased aftermarket clutch and master cylinder levers only to have them leak or brake I've decided to simply modify and rebuild the oem master cylinder. It doesn't look as nice as the anodised ones but some paint can fix that I guess. Thanks for the reply Cookie

I had clubman bars on my first race SV650, and the MC was at a weird angle. Other than having to rotate the bars back to add fluid or to bleed the brakes it didn't cause any problems. I later went to a Nissan MC with a remote reservoir, but only because a crash had destroyed the stock unit. :)
I've cleaned up the original one and painted it. Have been able to fit new levers. Just can't get the bloody brakes to work. Back to the rebuild
