Title: GS500: Syncing carbs and a new tachometer
Post by: YandK on July 27, 2016, 12:53:20 PM
Greetings from Israel, I bought my GS500 a few weeks ago after a crash and am slowly bringing it back to life at my workshop but I'm in need of help with 2 issues:

1. My dashboard is completely busted. I'm looking for a new tachometer unit on a tight budget, Any recommendations? My GS is a 2002 so both speed and RPM are mechanical cables.

2. I got around to syncing my carbs and according to my haynes I have a Mikuni bts33ss  carbs, But is it possible that someone had replaced carbs on my bike because I cant find the vaccum ports. How can I know what carbs I have installed?

Thanks.!

My 97 GS had BST33 carbs which were 2 circuit but my 02 GS had BSR34 carbs which were the newer 3 circuit carbs.  Could be your Haynes isn't up to date on that.  3 circuit carbs are on 01 and newer GSs.

Thanks, But the wiki page wasn't too clear about where are the vaccum sync ports on the BSR34, Do you have a pic or something?

That is not the same carb as I have installed.
