Title: Leaking oil around just one bolt on side engine cover
Post by: expo1 on September 22, 2016, 04:59:48 PM
I had to replace the gaskets for the side engine covers on my 93 GS. The right side is good, no leaks, but on the left side, shifter side, there is some oil leaking around just one bolt. It would be the one directly above the Suzi emblem. Last night I took the cover back off, and put a little RTV around the whole sealing surface and went around all the bolt holes, following RTV directions I waited 24 hours to add oil. I took it out for a spin, and the same issue, although it seems better after the RTV. It won't leak oil just sitting there at idle, and I did not notice any leakage in the midrange, but it definitely started to become apparent when I opened up the throttle and hammered down. Any thoughts?
