Hey all, I have a couple questions regarding my rear brake.
Background Info: For a while now, I noticed that the rear wheel of my bike does not seem to spin entirely freely. I noticed this not long after purchasing my bike a few months ago, but kind of forgot about it since it hasn't really caused any sort of issues. I can still move the bike backwards when in neutral/clutch pulled in, and it doesn't cause any noticeable drag while riding. However, until recently I wasnt really sure what the issue was. While cleaning/lubing the chain I was reminded of the issue, and decided to figure out what the issue was and try to fix it. So, I eventually discovered that it was the brake that was causing the drag, and when I release the rear brake, the rear caliper does not seem to release entirely, causing the pads to drag.
My questions:
1. Besides premature rotor/pad wear, are there any other major concerns that this has been going on? Like I said, it doesn't seem to cause any noticeable drag while riding (which is part of the reason I forgot about the issue).
2. What should I look into in order to fix this? My initial reaction was that maybe I should start by changing the rear brake fluid?
mine does the same thing every 3000 km or so, i found that stripping the plungers and gicving them a good clean solves the problem, just be careful when you put the plunngers back in that you dont pinch a seal
