So I live in a pretty okay part of Jacksonville, but we've had our fair share of break-ins, broken car windows, etc., but I've yet to experience anything personally.
Today I get home from work and my GS was knocked off the center stand a few feet from my parking space as if it had been kicked, seat and tank removed, but nothing taken? I don't know. I'm pretty upset because I've finally gotten to the final steps of my rebuild, only to get knocked back on my ass.
What a sad day.
Any suggestions on what to do now?

Seat and tank removed but nothing taken... so the seat and tank were what, just sitting on the ground next to the bike? Who the hell does that? Smh at people honestly...
What else is damaged? I'd imagine they picked the seat lock.... ugh I'm getting angrier as I think about it. I guess next would be to call the police and also your insurance company maybe? Any neighbors that you could ask if they saw anything? Make a list of everything that got damaged in any way and see what all needs to be replaced and repaired...

Definitely file a police report. If anything is damaged insurance may help as long as there's a police report.
Nothing is going to stop someone who wants to knock your bike over from knocking it over, but the center stand is actually a lot less stable than the side stand. I wouldn't be inclined to park it like that.
Hey Dude , Its Jealous people that do that .......... my new 1986 1000r Ninja gets on its side , like only two days old , bike night event , in a rich area Newport Beach . some boy whos Mommy would not let him get a Ninja 1000r . ( was in a private parking lot so police will not do a report ) long story short , I kicked his ass , got put in jail ................
+1 for police report. They probably wont really do anything, but you'll at the very least have documentation of the incident if you want to report it to insurance. Next, I'd rigorously inspect the bike to see if there is any other damage, and repair what you need to.
I'm really sorry that happened to you, I'm always pretty paranoid about stuff like that since I don't have a garage.
That is terrible! Why do people have to do stuff like this? Like tipping over all the garbage bins on trash day?
Double check with all your neighbors to see if anyone has security camera footage or happened to see what happened.
These things seem to happen at the worst times. The most similar experience I have had was right after I bought my 'GS in '08. Essentially brand new, shiny F model. I parked it in front of a chain link fence of a construction site. Came back to find that the fence had been knocked over onto my bike. Whoever knocked over the fence just left it there. :bs:
Pisses me off when people do such a thing...the GS is affordable to pretty much ANYONE, buy one for yourself goddammit! I have a friend who's GS was stolen after he did quite a few things to it, only to find it trashed in an orchid outside of town with sand (!!) inside the engine block! Who does that?!
I would say aside from an inspection you should tie it to something with a heavy duty chain and cover it as well, and while you're there invest in an alarm. They can go for about 60$ and will cause the theif to think twice. Oh and a disc lock, preferably one with an alarm.
