I have recently purchased a gs500e 92 model and ever since buying the bike I have had the one ongoing problem.
When accelerating after I get to about 1/3 throttle the bike starts stuttering and acting like it's about to stall. If I roll the throttle on a tad more it will clear and accelerates from there onwards with no issues.
I'm not sure if I can easily fix this by playing around with the idle mixture if it's just an issue of not enough flow on the pilot jet so any input is really appreciated.
I should add that the previous owner has put an after market exhaust on before I got my hands on her.
I really love this bike allot and having this little issue can sometimes just spoil the joy of the ride, especially at low speeds when I need this throttle position.

Pilot jet controls 0-1/8th throttle. 1/3rd could be a needle or float level.
Likely the float is too high, especially in the left chamber on a bike that sat for a long time.

If it's not float height, check the diaphragms too - make sure there are no holes, and that they're seated correctly.
In addition to the good advice you already have, check for a vacuum leak, especially the intake boot o-rings. A leak here will slow the diaphragm pulling the slides up and really affect light throttle moving from pilot to main jet.
Thank-you all for the quick replies, is there any of these that can be te..sted before removing the carbs? And how much work is it to remove the carbs on this bike as I haven't pulled it apart to much so far.
