Aside from the project threads and the picture game, I can't seem to find a generic thread for us to share photos of our bikes. Every now and then I snap a photo that I might share on instagram/Facebook/snapchat/whatever, but I feel like the people here would appreciate it more. Since my bike isn't really a project, I don't have a reason to create a thread in the project forum. So let's see your favorite photos of your bike...

Awesome thread!! I hope we get lots of pics here.
This has always been one of my favorite pics of my GS:

Good photos. I like the color of that Honda. I took that headlight photo in my garage the other day, which is what kind of inspired the thread. But here are a few of my favorites.
This is the first photo I took of my GS the day I bought it.

Your GS500's look clean too. I mean nothing like Sookie, she's a dirty, raggy old tart! And that's after I've spent about £300 and several man hours cutting my teeth in the garage.

Gel seat cushion. I got it at CycleGear. Don't remember what I paid for it, but I think I got it on sale for a reasonable amount. $20-30 or something.
Sun faded really fast, but it was comfortable. Absolutely necessary if you're like me and would refuse to take the car anywhere... because you don't have one... :thumb:

Cool photo ShowBiz. Keep 'em coming everyone!
I'd post more, but we've got a high of 23 F this weekend. We're supposed to have temps back up into the 50's next weekend, but it's going to rain. :bs:
I'm working out of town this weekend, I'll try and get an interesting pic.
I might be able to do the challenge, as well, I'm sure most of our training bikes are black.

Here's one of my son helping take the fairings off my brother's SV earlier this afternoon.
Random side note: I wish the tank on the GS would pivot at the bolts the way the SV does. It makes accessing the air box and carbs so much easier.

And those pics of your GS are great... I still love that flat blue and the rear plastics being black. The muffler is the finishing touch :bstar:
This is a photo from while ago... Three GS500s lined up in the bike parking area.
Mine is the naked one on the left. I have no idea who owned the other ones but I know the guy who owns the BMW in the background.
He was 'ecstatic' when I told him to sod off on that European, cheap excuse for a bike. This is a GS500 only parking area.

GSTwin doesn't have any available photo storage space. You have to upload them to a separate photo hosting website (flickr, photobucket, etc.) and then use the IMG tag with the link to the photo to display it in your post. Or, if you use an app like Tapatalk, it has its own photo hosting server and makes adding photos to your post really easy.
Thank you

Looks like some sort of Madstad setup??
Yes, it is a Madstad setup.
Until recently they had it listed on their website. Since the website update they took it down but I bet they would still make one for you on special order. Most of their set ups use the same robo brackets and screens they just fabricate different mounting brackets. On the GS500F its a metal windscreen that replaces the stock screen and the robo brackets bolt to that.
Its the best thing ever. Like riding a Goldwing. I often forget to put my helmet face shield down because even at 60 mph you only get a flutter of air.
I really don't like wind noise so it was worth the price of admission for me. Madstad makes their stuff in the USA and its super high quality but it is expensive. With earplugs in there is 0 wind noise. Seriously 0. I am 6' tall if that makes a difference.
I'll probably put a Madstad screen on any bike I buy from now on. I like it that much. Previously I tried the Zero Gravity bubble, their touring screen, and their touring screen plus a Laminar lip. All of those were worse than the stock screen. The stock screen is actually pretty good for wind noise but not great for winter/rain riding.

Really?! I was just going to order the Zero Gravity Touring tonight...I was hoping it would reduce the wind from being directed pretty much directly at my chest and up my helmet (I'm currently using a dual sport helmet; have a regular helmet on order). This really stinks. I thought I read on this very forum that the ZG Touring made a night and day difference/improvement over the stock wind screen...I'm so confused...
Its going to depend a lot on how tall you are and what helmet you use (dual sport helmets being some of the loudest). The issue I had was that the touring screen moved the wind blast to exactly at my neck line. That made it worse than the stock screen. Adding the laminar lip didn't interface well with the touring screen and gave me a lot of buffeting. I rode that way for a long time but when a rock shot a hole through my zero gravity screen I used it as an excuse to try something different.
The Madstad screen actually gets the wind above my helmet visor and the smart design of it means there is very little buffeting once you get it adjusted to you. That takes while because it is nearly infinitely adjustable up/down and tilt.

I am 5'11". How tall are you? Are there other options similar to Madstad?
I am 6' tall, like I said 2 posts ago.
Nothing quite like the Madstad, especially for the GS500. Closest thing would be the Zero Gravity touring screen with the Laminar lip or some other screen extender on the top.

Been too long since I rode up the mountain. There was a massive fire up there the end of June and pretty much all of July has been nothing but storms all around it. Finally the monsoons died down a bit and gave me the chance.
Wish I could have gone further up (maybe made it 1/4 of the way) but I rode right after I got off work in the early evening and didn't have my clear shield with me, turned around as soon as I got this picture and even so made it home maybe 15 minutes after the sun had completely set.
FYI, riding at night with a light-tint shield (mirror finish) CAN be done, but it's super sketchy...
This is a great thread. Thanks show!
Here's turd in the garage getting closer to finish line,...

Once again I'm unable to see mr72s picture. WTF! :2guns: :dunno_black:
If I could ever get someone else to take pictures of me on the bike I could participate in that other thread, best I can get is footage of my backside from someone else's video-camera...
nothing on mr72's pic over here either,.... :dunno_black:
Yeah I don't know why photos shared on Google Photos using a shared album don't work for everyone on this forum. But it's not worth it to me to spin up some other photo sharing site. Sorry you guys can't see it. Maybe try logging in to your google account in another browser tab, assuming you have one.

I think it has to with the fact that technically you're not directly linking to the image file itself (your image URL doesnt end in .jpg or .png or anything like that), you're linking to a page of your Google Photos album or something. If I copy the URL you have between your IMG tags and paste it into my address bar, I get prompted to sign in to my Google account. Although, even after I signed in all I saw was a grey circle with a line in it. And now that I'm signed in, that's what displays here on the forum as well. So it may also depend on the viewer's google account's security settings? Not entirely sure, maybe I'll try and investigate further when I have some extra time.
yeah Google doesn't make this easy. They're learning from Apple about how to do "walled garden".
Maybe just upload the images to Tinypic instead of google photos? I know you said you didnt want to use another photo sharing site but Tinypic doesnt require an account if you only upload a couple photos every now and then.
when you right click it, copy paste that image location address into the insert image,...and you get nothing? Cause the one I did for you in the other thread worked. I think it's still working,...maybe you're messing up the string somehow?

That's exactly how I add these images.
Now, when I go to mr72's project thread I can see most of the pictures he added. When I go back to the "What did you do for your bike today" thread where I first discussed the issue I can't see them, nor can I see these here.
I don't think it would be a logged-in/permissions/security thing unless I could see none of the images but regardless I double checked that I am signed into my google accounts, navigated to his album and can see them there, and when I do like cbrfxr67 and select an image, right click, select "copy image location," paste it here, and surround it in the "img tags" it will post the image for me in the preview.
Case and point, can everyone see this?:

Interesting, it does appear to be a different address than the one you got from his post. If I quote his post directly, remove his image url, add the one I got, and hit preview, it does display properly, even with the forced dimensions. I wonder if it's giving him some oddball "admin" address instead of a "public" address since he's copying off of his personal album.
I can see that one as well... :dunno_black: It's a mystery lol
grr. I think I may just stop posting pictures.
Actually I think there are a couple of issues here:
1. the pictures I share are in a "shared album". If I get the link after browsing to them in the shared album, then it generally works more often. If I get the link when browsing to the picture outside the shared album, then it may not work for everyone.
2. there's some way to modify the link to add .jpg and make a more universally-usable link from google photos but I forgot what that is and I am too lazy to go look it up every time I post.
In the end I call it a success if some people can see it. :)
I presume the lovely lady on the back is your daughter--if not, she's a lovely lady no matter what.
Yeah that's my youngest, she's 21 and just graduated from TX A&M.
It was her first time to ever ride on a motorcycle. In fact my wife took that picture before we even set off for the first time. Hannah screamed in my ear "TOO FAST!!" for about the first 2 minutes and then got the hang of it, and after riding about a mile sort of round the block in the neighborhood at 30-35mph she decided to go with me to the donut shop about 2 miles away.
Still my wife won't ride with me. One 5 minute ride on a defective (no brakes!! AT ALL!!) 50cc scooter in Mexico 20 years ago has ruined her for life. Gotta admit, having to try and stop a 50cc scooter with two adults on it at that first stop sign with our feet was terrifying enough. I try to tell her that this motorcycle is nothing like that. Doesn't help. But my girls love riding on there with me.
EDIT -- my wife just went on a ride with me to the grocery store. Victory!! :)
no pics tho. next time I'll put the gopro on the bike.

Of course maybe I buy a Ducati and she can ride the gs.

Well dang! Haven't seen you around here in a while!
That's a sweet Chieftain. My two bosses (husband and wife) at the MSF program out here both have Indians; a Springfield and a Chieftain (respectively).
I dig the FTR but I wouldn't want a 1200. If they made the 750 for the street I could be tempted.

What happens when you quote one of my posts?
Yup, there's nothing. Empty blank space.
I just tried to quote the post with the pics and when that comes up, it shows the image links!
And using the forum at work is also the reason I haven't posted any pics in the game or here or anywhere else... because for some reason, these work computers WILL NOT load imgur at all... and that's where all mine are.
They are probably filtering imagur. The real fix for all of this is to locally host the pictures but I understand that's not an option for this forum.

Here's the story, I'm a painter by trade (currently), complex machined airplane parts...
I used spray can primer and a cheap spray gun from Amazon for the base and clear coat...that ended up coming out very Lumpy, but I made sure I had plenty of clear on it.
Six months later sanded the Lumps out of the clear coat and resprayed another coat of clear on it with a Binks Trophy Series, that came out looking pretty good for not having a real booth
