Title: Black handlebar, bar risers, what to make of it...
Post by: TundraOG on January 03, 2017, 08:40:02 AM
Hey guys.
Been searching all over the place for a black handlebar for my 2002 GS500E. There's nothing wrong with the original one, love the position, but the bike's going to be turned into a scrambler and as part of the project - black bars are needed.

I saw these 7/8" bars on eBay but someone told me I'll need bar risers. I love how my bike feels right now and since I filter through traffic on a daily basis I need to keep the height, otherwise I'll end up banging a bunch of mirrors and probably get some road rage taken out on me...which is never good  :nono:

Can anyone recommend a black handlebar that'll fit the stock measurements?

Why don't you just powder coat the original?

Paint the originals.

The Bikemaster bar I have is black and I guarantee you I could get a more durable paint job by painting one myself.

Yeah, if there's nothing wrong with the original, I would just paint that or get it painted. I have the bikemaster superbike bars and the gloss black paint on them is really easily scratched (love the feel of these bars though). If you're planning a scrambler build, you'd probably want something with a bit more durability.
