Any tried FogCity's new "Hyper Optiks" faceshield insert?
Changes from a light green color in overcast/dark conditions to a blue in the sun light...
I've used a Fog City proshield for a while but wondering about this one...
Thanks.
Rolly
I've got a fog city hyper opticks insert that gets darker in sunlight. It's kinda silvery blue
It's ok. Doesn't change as much as I would like. The biggest downside is the adhesive around the edge. It cuts down on the field of vision around the edges of the shield. And it hangs up on the helmet making it harder to open the shield. I have it on a Arai RX7RRIV.
I've had a Fog City Hyperoptiks in my Shoei Interceptor for about three years. It's very good. Changes from almost completely clear (kind of a very faint straw colour) to a dark blue, and quite quickly too.
As Bob says, take care to fix it not too close to the top of the visor, or it will catch on the edge of the helmet when you flip the visor up. Also, make sure that the visor is really squeaky clean before you fix it, or you won't get a good seal around the edge.
Been commuting to work in -4 degrees C this week with the visor down and no misting problems.
how much and where to get this stuff?

One source is
Dennis Kirk. For $30.99 you can get either of two
green/
blue units:
Universal Hyper Optiks (part #32-4697)
*
Hyper Optiks for Arai (part #32-4698)[/list:u]
Can you remove it from one shield and put it on another when replacing the shield?
NO! It is a one time deal. You glue it to the face shield with the peel and strip adhesive on the edge. So it's real important to get it right the first time.
I bought a new clear shield and the fog city shield together, instead of trying on an old shield.
hmm, new face shield is 15$ for my vega, that film is 30$, 5$ more and i could buy another vega (helmet) my main routes of travel have lots of dump/cement/gravel/garbage trucks, my sheild get scratched up pretty quick. might not be worth the cost
