Title: Questions about jetting
Post by: Jim Moore on February 23, 2017, 09:24:05 AM
HI Guys,

I'm taking apart my new-to-me 2001 GS500E. The PO removed the airbox, installed pod filters, and cut the back muffler off the exhaust and installed a homemade muffler. He also rejetted the big jets to 65 and 132.5. He left the pilot jet at 17.5.

I plan to put everything back to stock. I have the airbox and a OEM exhaust. I have all the stock jets. He had a set of 22.5 pilot jets that he hadn't installed for some reason. I'm thinking of going with the 22.5 pilots and 60 / 127.5 mains. I like to bump up the pilot jets when I get a bike. I always think the original slow-speed jetting is too lean. I'm going to compensate a little bit by going with 1.5 turns on the idle screws. Does that sound like a reasonable plan?

That sounds like a fine plan.
