Title: '05 GS500F part out
Post by: dafatrman on March 09, 2017, 11:05:47 AM
Hey everyone!  I have the whole bike.  Pics on request.  PO said he took off and the engine went to clacka-lacka-lackin'.  Most likely bottom end.  PM with your needs and reasonable offer and I'll be in touch.

Bike is the regular purty-blue and white.  13,xxx miles.  Plastics/tank aren't perfect but are useable, and as I said pics on request.  Just too d@mn busy for a photo shoot all at once.  Waiting for the title.

UPDATE:  No. 1 connecting rod cap almost came off, cases are undamaged but crank is ruined.  Cylinder block good for re-bore only.  Piston did not hit the cylinder head or valves.  Cams, clutch, transmission and everything else looks great.  only 13,000 miles and no signs of any wear anywhere except for the bottom end and cylinders/pistons.

I'm thinking of rebuilding but if anyone wants/needs something I'll leave it alone.

hmmm handlebar controls? I just need 12 and 13 on this image below... lol I broke mine today running into it with my hip.. RIP my hip. but if you want to send the whole assembly I won't say no. also do you know what the clutch plates look like? I'm pretty confident mine are warped. due to a low oil incident..  :technical: and what are the mirrors like? OEM?

Well, my brother talked me into fixing it.  He said I'm a mechanic not a scrapper.  I wanted to fix it anyway but I lack the funds to do so.  Gonna see how my next two paychecks look.  Will keep y'all posted.

I sincerely apologize to vagabonder and J_Walker

Well, I am finding engines with guarantees online.  a bit pricey, but probably the better route to go.

Soooooo, I have decided to part out the eng I have.  FOR REAL this time.

All prices are plus packaging and shipping:

engine cases - $40
trans shafts, gears, dogs - $40
shift drum and forks - $30
counterbalance shaft - $10
Cams - $25 ea.

Head is at the machine shop getting cleaned and checked over.  Will keep y'all posted.

Pics on request.  My cellphone is a cheapo $20 special so it is very difficult to get them to upload, otherwise I might go ahead and do a photo shoot.
