Well, I bought a used engine minus the head from a place in Hurst, Texas. Gonna put my head and cams on it and see how it goes. The place is called Mr Motorcycle Recycler. They have a ton of bike parts old and new stored indoors. Looks like a well established business with some good guys running it. They also have whole bikes for sale and do custom work. If you are near there check them out, but I got their only GS500 engine.
If it turns out to be a bust you can,run a complete old gs500f motor you just have to swap,sensors from the first over.
Done it a few times. There is a tutorial online that covers it all. About to do it again since I have a blown minty f sitting
What is this about sensors? I really hope that this engine I bought works out because all my money is tied up in it. If it pops I'll just have to part the whole bike out and try to recuperate some funds. I REALLY wish I had never sold my 1990 named Spunky. I sold her to a forum member and have regretted it ever since.....
I guess you meant put an 'E' engine in it. I thought about that but the 'F' has the oil cooler and this motor has 19,000 miles on it. It seems that the ones that are blowing up are pretty low in mileage so I am hoping that this one just won't. Fingers crossed! I am putting new rings in it and all gaskets, washers and seals that I encounter as well. It only has to run long enough to finally figure out what is wrong with my SOHC 750 Honda then I am gonna sell it and prolly buy another Honda motor or another project.
