Title: Athena Gasket Set
Post by: Andy.tech on April 12, 2017, 09:51:51 PM
Hi I have another question, I am trying to get my engine going and I purchased my gasket set called Ahtena. But there seemed to be some inconsistencies the major one being after I installed the cylinder and head gaskets I now can not turn my crank all the way around because the piston is hitting the combustion chamber. Am I doing anything wrong or whats going on?

I used this set for my rebuild, ditto on this issue, they seem to have worked OK. they aren't the best gaskets in the world, but good enough for the GS.

as far as your issue. did a part get machined?

are you sure its hitting the cylinder head, and not a valve?

Yes watch out... DON'T try to force the piston over, you may well have got the valve timing wrong and a valve could be hitting the piston, it'll bend, -you don't want that trouble and expense. Investigate!

I didn't machine the head because everything was straight, i only replaces the gasket on the head and the cylinder because i had developed a leak between the head and the cylinder.
