I have been a proud owner of a 2006 GS500F for nearly 4 years. It only has 4500 miles on it because it has been in a garage for most of its life with the previous owners. Each year after I take it out of storage from the Winter months, I give it an oil change.
Last years oil change, I noticed some yellowish orange debris fall out of the oil drain plug hole. I figured I would play this possible issue by ear and I successfully rode on.
Tonight after I did the annual oil change, I checked the drain plug hole again(remember last year) and there was a bigger piece inside, sitting against the opening. I've attached a picture.
What is this from? Any estimated guesses would be very much appreciated.

Easy - alternator rotor.

Either that, or some putz used liquid gasket somewhere and it's starting to flake apart.
I know it sounds stupid, but I hope it's your rotor coming apart. It's an easier fix, and I highly recommend looking into it asap.
I agree on the rotor issue, those things... urgh don't get me started. dumb design on suzukis part. putting plastic bits, in high temp areas, around petroleum spinning REALLY fast. when you take it off, you will understand why im labeling the design as DUMB.

I ended up replacing the entire rotor assembly because I had "pre-goats." In my case probably caused by the debris from the starter clutch bolts shearing off.
I replaced the '06 rotor with one from an '89. The '89 magnets have a slightly different design that seems less likely to delaminate. Knowing Suzuki, they usually only make changes to parts to make them cheaper to produce.

Thank you to everyone for the info. I removed the stator cover today and sure enough, the rotor had plastic/adhesive chunks missing from the outside part of the magnets.
I just pulled the trigger on buying a 1989 GS500E rotor but out of curiousity does o anyone have any ideas on how the chipped glue could be repaired? Some kind of high strength, high temp adhesive?(https://drive.google.com/file/d/140PhKWrw3obi1i6p9WZ6blD_5tTuS6977w/view?usp=drivesdk)
