Title: Install problems with Vance and Hines exhaust
Post by: Ghouse6 on May 18, 2017, 05:13:30 PM
I have a 2000 Gs500e and I'm having trouble fitting the exhaust into the headers. The pipes won't go in deep enough for me to be able to tighten the bolts. I'm waiting on new gaskets to get here but want to figure out what's going on and why it's not fitting. I'll attach some pics. Thanks for any help I get!

Are you sure there isn't an old set of gaskets crushed in there?
Are you definitely getting the headers lined up correctly? Sometimes it can be hard to get them both to line up perfectly so they completely seat into the head of the engine.

I'll double check today that there's isn't another gasket crammed in there and make sure it's aligned properly. I tried to attach a pic but I guess the file is too large

It will fit just fine with 2 gaskets. I've had to do that on some bikes to get it to seal up.
So you have some else going on likely.
Cool.

You can't attach anything to the forum since forever ago.  You need to host the photo on a website like Imgur or PhotoBucket or ImageShack and link it here.
