I posted about 2 weeks ago about problems I was having with my 2007 GS500F with only 4000 miles on it saw it Craigslist near mint shape for $1,300 I kind of knew something was up any way to get to the point l towed home it home put a new battery in it what's the seller said that's all it needed. after I put the battery in it ran like shi# would not idel good ehad no power. I R&R the carbs, bowl were clean remove the Jets cleaned all the holes out and blew it out with air. After I got it back ogether it still run crummy.like 0 -60 in 10 or 11 sec. that's when I posted and got a pretty good response they were telling me to check for vacuum leaks but I knew all the hoses were fairly new and look good and I know I sealed everything up the carb the airbox because .I was getting no vacuum to the petcock after finding a great picture a gentleman sent me of my exact same carb. Found out a couple vacuum lines we're not in there assigned spots thank God for those pictures whoever sent them to me I'm having trouble on this website trying to find my post and who sent replies I would like to thank them personally. I switched the vacuum lines and the things got power up the ass. but it seems kind of hard to start revs so smooth and Powerful, after getting it to idle pretty decent sometimes if I let it idle for a little bit and I Jam the throttle it pops or backfires it's about 60 degrees out in Detroit where I'm at I feel really good that I'm making progress I'm real excited to see how this thing
Go's when it's running like it should. I put new plugs in it also can anyone shed some light and why it might be Poppin like that sometimes I would like to get rid of the air box and replace it with a K&N lunchbox do you think that's a good idea or will I have to rejet. It's so cramped in there trying to run the fuel lines also I snapped one of the fuel lines at the gas tank petcock and noticed each end of the different size.. why would they do something like that other than to make you buy a special hose does anybody know how much the hoses cost like I said any feedback would be greatly appreciated and thanks again at everybody for guidance through this project I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now .

I wasn't aware those costed money these days
Well, to answer a few of the questions I could make out, K&N will require a rejet, OEM fuel lines have a dynamic ID to make it easier to attach to the tank petcock (limited space, larger ID makes it easier to fit and clamp), and popping is usually a sign of improper fuel ratio (lean). Hard starting and popping when revving makes me think maybe your choke is set improperly, or perhaps your mixture screws aren't set right.
Turn the mixture screws in until they are snug, then turn each one out 2.5 turns and see where that gets you. Also check that the choke cable is adjusted properly and that the choke mechanism moves freely.
Where are the idle adjustment mixture screws on a 2007 GS500F. I know that the big plastic knob hanging down between the carbs adjust the idle RPM but when I took the carbs off I don't remember seeing any idle adjustment mixture screws did I overlook them ,do all model years of GS 500 have idle adjustment mixture screws?
They are under the carbs towards the "front". Usually you need a Flathead bit in order to reach them when the carbs are on the bike since there isn't a lot of room there.
