Title: Wireless Phone charging - Anybody tried it?
Post by: BushidoBrown on June 02, 2017, 07:55:29 PM
So I was  buying stuff off Amazon to hook up a USB charger and got this idea

RAM Mount + Hot Glue + $10 Wireless Charger=

Anyone tried anything like this? Did you run into any problems?

That's a cool idea!

Let us know how it works for you.

Incidentally, I think that's the best RAM setup.  Clamp-bolt mount, small arm, X-grip dead center over the stem.

Bushido, I don't have any personal experience with wireless charging, but I have heard that generally they don't charge very fast. Great for next to the bed while you sleep, not so great for using the GPS while on a ride.

And you "might" have to bend the arms upward on that X grip to accommodate the added thickness of the charger.

I have a wireless charger on my desk and use it to charge my S7. It works reasonably quickly, but I don't know whether or not it would keep up with the demand of always-on GPS mode. Also, the one I have definitely is NOT wx proof. I will end up running a charging wire when I do my wire tuck. Keep us posted on how it works though!
