The wheels DO look sharp like that!! :star:
Thanks showbiz. :woohoo:
The first fender I ever made for my GS looked like yours. Minimal and clean :thumb: I also like that chain guard and what I can see of the rearsets!
The front guard is actually two Gs guards. I cut them in half and used the two rear sections back to back and trimmed it all up for and old school look.
The chain guard is made from a piece of aluminum angle. I cut and filed it to shape. I would rather not have a front guard and chain guard but the "crime fighters" around here insist that they are in place.
The rear sets are Vortex GSXR1000, I made the bracket from construction grade aluminum plate. The pegs are fully adjustable and the gearing is one up and five down" GP shift". It's a riot to ride.
Omg that's great!! My second fender was two rear GS halves too! Now that I'm onto making my third, they have gotten more substantial lol idk why :icon_razz:
I understand about not really wanting certain things on bikes but being kinda forced into it. Here in PA we hafta have at least something on the front for a fender for inspection (at least that's what I was told years ago) so that's why I made my first one back then.
Here are the mods i've done.
Starting with the front end ,I put in new Wilbers springs and gold emulators. I stripped off the headlight and brackets and put a "bates" style headlight. I stripped off the speedo, tacho and mounting bracket and replaced with a single 2.5' speedo. I stripped out the key ignition switch and replaced it with a tiny 12mm one. The bike had "97" handle bars but I stripped them off and replaced them with aluminum clip on's. As you can see there is nothing hanging off the fork tubes, they are totally clean. I also made up a "chuck81" style fork brace.
At the rear, I cut the passenger peg brackets off, stripped the fairings and made a new "racer" style tail out of fiberglass. I raised the seat and the "hump". I installed a new wilbers rear shocker with 25mm lift. I also stripped off the center stand and mud guard and made an aluminum tray under the seat for all the electrical stuff including a lipo battery.
Performance mod's include, Dyno jet kit, K&N lunch box filter, Megacycle stainless steel baffle and my custom exhaust collector mod and Inline fuel tap.
I also compleatly stripped the wiring harness and rerouted everything. I removed the side stand and clutch kill switch thingys.
The tank is the only think I haven't changed.
I posted up another pic on facebook of the bike as it was when I bought it. It "was" totally original.
