Title: por-15
Post by: Dorianfes on February 29, 2004, 12:28:51 PM
for those of you who have used the por-15 motorcycle tank repair kit.....

the instructions say that the marine clean works best if it is real hot.  the hotter the better.  i was wondering if i should make the 1:1 dilution first, and then heat it in the mircowave?  or would it be a better (and safer) idea to first heat the one part of water in the micro. then mix it with the marine clean?

thanks

No you don't need to heat it up... (You'll find that once you shake it around inside the tank  it will get warm on it's own..)

You can use hot Tap water if you like but it's not really necessary...

Paint by numbers...and when they say dry....they mean dry...

Let it cure for as long as you can ( They say 2-3 days..I always allowed 4.... but  the ones I did weren't my daily riders.....)

The kit I used from Por15 didn't come with the cleaner, so I used carb. cleaner then electrical contact cleaner.  I haven't had any prob. yet with leaks(running probs. are another issue), but if I remeber right, the cleaner they reccomend(when used properly) works with or without being heated.  I would opt for the non-heated use, we are talking about gas here.  I've had good luck with my use of the Por15, keep us up to date about your exp.
