Title: Sinteed pads on GS Iron rotor query
Post by: user11235813 on July 19, 2017, 12:10:33 AM
Bought some new front and rear pads, Got the Ferodo Platinum organic for the rear and the Ferodo Sinter Grip Road HH for the front.

Now I read that the Sintered pads may not be good for an iron rotor. Any thoughts on this?

It's some stainless steel alloy. I

GS uses steel rotors, so the sintered will work fine.

Something to consider, however, is that the sintered pads are much harder than organic or semi-metallic.  They will cause more wear on the rotor and they'll be noisier, but they are longer life, create less dust, and handle heat much better than the alternatives (excepting ceramic).

For the average GS rider semi-metallic or organic will work the best, if you like hills and curves then sintered might be a good option.

I put sintered pads in my GS three years ago and cannot see any adverse effects, and they certainly lowered my stopping distance.
