Title: Could you fit it?
Post by: jabbajosh on February 29, 2004, 06:18:39 PM
I have a friend with an extra 600cc katana engine laying around, think someone could fit that into a gs 500 frame?

Fitting an engine from one motorcycle into a frame from another is pretty complicated.  Not only do you have to fit and mount the engine into the GS frame (probably have to make new mounts), but you'd also have to figure out how to run a straight chain from the front sprocket to the rear sprocket.  Since the four-cylinder is quite a bit wider, this might be difficult.  Might be possible but probably not worth the effort.

way too hard to do...it would be easyer to start from scratch then to try to put in a 4 cyl engine into a GS frame

nope, you would have to open wider the frame spars under the tank.

Won't fit.  only makes 20 hp more than the GS.  Consider Ebay.
