Is anyone interested or know someone who is interested in a 1978 SR500? In order to get my GS500f, I had to promise my wife to come up with enough money to pay for it; therefore, the SR, which I have owned since Feb 1979, has to go It is listed in Cycle Trader.
Please tell me its not "bobbered out".
Those bikes are cool. I like em plenty. I have the end result of that SR line in a brit designed, german chassis, jap running gear MZ.
I think of it as everything the GS could ne upgraded to.
Cool.

That's my SR--I like bikes that look like they could have come out of the factory. The gas tank paint scheme is from my BSA Bantam D1 (125cc), which my dad bought for me brand new in 1962. I've made the bike as light and simple as possible. You can see my GS in the background of the picture. I bought the GS because I have copd and need an electric starter. Actually, I really like my SR, but I promised my wife I'd sell it in order to pay for the GS. Actually, I wish I could combine the best from the GS and the SR, but I am really enjoying riding the GS--much smoother and just push a button to start. I need to thank the members of the forum for information on sorting out the carbs and adjusting the valves.
The MZ 660 with 5 valves and liquid cooling can barely keep up with a GS. With 500 cc and 4 valves is this much slower than the GS ?
Cool.

i have a friend whos neighbour has an rd350 a 2smoker i believe thats the model that he would let us ride :) i just love vintage bikes. the ones i treasured riding the most, was a water buffalo which i had serviced for its owner, then a 41 ironhead with a jockeyshift which i traded 2 trips through the dragon on. guy rode my gs i rode the harley. anyways, back on subject, i know it pains you to unload that bike , but my friend i wish you the best.
