(sorry i'm probly the so many'th person to ask such a question but couldnt find a clear awnser on the forum/wiki/net  )
So yesterday i bought myself a practically new GS500F , build year of 2006, with 3000km on the clock.
It idles like it should, though the throttle has a slight lagg to it, which could mean as people say it runs lean out of the factory. Though when riding it i feel no problem with it.
Now i dont mind the slight lagg too much as it doesnt affect the riding aspect of the bike, but i'm looking to upgread the exhaust system, being to a full Delkevic system with a 350 or 450mm oval silencer.
Im planning to keep the filter etc all OEM as i purely like to get a better sound out of my bike.
Now i could rejet the bike to the spec on the wiki for full stock, but not sure that setting would work if i introduce a full system from delkevic over the OEM exhaust and there is no jet setting for a full exhaust system with an OEM filter.
So would i need to rejet further(or at all even?) than the reccomended stock jetting on the wiki if i plan to only change the exhaust and keep the filter OEM?
Thanks in advance!
Exhaust and OEM filter on a 06 is 20/132.5/3 turns/1 washer.
I would try the exhaust swap. If it behaves after that, don't need to rejet it. If it starts to act up then yea.
A lag in throttle response could well be a dirty filter or other mis adjusted set up (like a high float for that matter) both of which may be masking a leaner than ideal condition.
Cool.
Buddha.
Thanks for the reply!
Yea guess i'll try the system first before getting a set of jets. Just to see how it runs.
