My buddy just bought a bike that came with a Cor-tech tail bag, and I like the functionality and look of it. Was wondering if anyone had mounted one to a GS500 and could comment on how well the mounting went, how it looks, how sturdy it is ect.
I've had one on my bike for 4 months now; Works pretty well. I use it mostly for my commute (office shoes, lunch, wheel lock, office pants when its hot). Haven't used it on any trip of any reasonable distance so far, but I should have that feedback by the end of October if I can get my dad to commit to a date for a weekend ride.
1. Mounting is pretty easy with a few caveats regarding buckle and pad location
2. I think it looks pretty good just shy of hard luggage. Plus it is a nice backrest if you have it stuffed.
3. Sturdy - Yes
4. You do lose the convenience of quick access to the helmet hook under the seat, but I find looping your helmet strap through the rear handle and tailbag strap is a good alternate.
5. I do find that on my white colored tail pieces, there is a slight discoloration from the strap padding, but I am confident it will buff out if I ever choose to.
