Hi guys/gals,
I'm about to start tearing apart my carburetors to rebuild, but before I remove them I had a few questions about what is going on here.
I found this screw in a rubber line that's connected to the left carburetor. Where is this line supposed to go?

Any tips on bench syncing these carbs and setting mixtures? Currently my bike loves to rev to 3k when hot and only revs down if I put it in gear and force the motor to slow down to 1500 or so. I've checked for vacuum leaks and have found none.
Tips on removing all this would be appreciated too

The reason it is doing what you describe is because of two things:
1. the idle speed is set too high ... that is, the throttle butterfly is too open at "idle"
2. the idle mixture is set too lean, by some small margin.
If you lower the idle speed then it will (likely) return to idle on its own after you rev it, but it may be slow to return to idle. This is known as "hanging idle". But it will stick at the high idle if you set the idle speed to 1500. Set it to 1100 and it will probably behave more normally.
That hose that's plugged is probably the vacuum hose that would normally go to the petcock. Hard to say.
Well I got the carbs off and was able to get more detailed photos.
This is the line in question. Pretty sure it should also be connected to some vacuum source.

Also got one bowl off and can see that it's pretty clean and everything looks new

Don't really know of I should mess with it or not

That vacuum line IS the vacuum source :)
what was hooked to your petcock?
Somebody added an extension tube to make carb syncing easier, that is one of the primary vacuum ports, should be one on the other carb too?
Yeah the other line is plugged into the Petcock atm. Should I find a T fitting and hook them together or is the one fine?

Also, lost a piece of the carb in the garage. I removed the larger jet and cleaned inside but when I flipped it upside down, the piece that hold the diaphragm need fell out. I found the larger piece but not the smaller part with the very small hole that the other side has which is contained within the larger piece. Do I need it or do I have to go to the dealer and order that little piece?

No need to hook them together :thumb:
I can't find the larger needle thing that retains the diaphragm needle. I went to the dealer and they want $40 for this thing and it's apparently backordered from Japan.
Can I run without it if I remove the other side inner piece?

For those who don't know what I'm talking about:
I'm missing the center part of this that holds the diaphragm needle. I might rebuild it and run it as is and see how it does(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170927/8166b34868dcb8f04109e90f72f90c78.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170927/f88269e7b1fe62559cab9b886a1a79d8.jpg)
