Title: The Goof is still alive!
Post by: Toogoofy317 on October 02, 2017, 09:27:06 AM
Hey gang what's up? Terribly sorry I haven't checked in sooner. That thing called life. That and I've not been ridding a whole bunch half due to my health and half due to Flick not running right. I was online checking on some new fuel lines and this site popped up. I still think about you guys when I see Flick. But, gonna be real Everytime I look at Flick well he reminds me of Patrick.

Good to see you posting again! Hope you can stop by the site more often.
I know it can be weird around here without Patrick, especially when searches still turn up so many of his posts. But maybe having a constant reminder of Patrick is a good thing. Its like he is always with you and a constant reminder for us all to try and replicate/pass on the generosity and fun that Patrick brought to us.

Welcome back Dr Mary.
My bikes also sit - I better get time to fix and ride, and believe it or not, fuel lines are one of my problems too.
Cool.

:) At least I'm not the only one! I also need to locate a shim kit to do a valve adjustment. For some reason Flick keeps bogging down from 1-3k. I've adjusted the carbs to no avail. But, the weather is getting good and I'm getting  antsy.

It's been about 4 months mainly because he started acting up and my health as well. No energy to go looking. But, the past month or so I've been feeling a bit better and I'm getting the itch.

A couple of the valves are tight so I'm guessing that's part of the problem. Got a valve tool so Thursday will get the shims out and go from there. Hoping the local shops will have what I need instead of waiting.

Actually, yes! 😂 We only had a standard feeler guage and goodness all the extra calculations made my brain hurt! The valves were super tight we buttoned up the top end and now tomorrow is rechecking the carbs because there was a bit of gas in the air box. Hopefully by Monday we will be on the road!

Mary I put the width script in the IMG tag so pop wouldn't have to scroll. Ppl can still see it in its original size by clicking on it. Btw the width thingie is [IMG width=800] or instead of 800 whatever one wants to use. Everything else is unchanged. Doesn't it feel good to be close to being back on road?
