Title: Centre stand spring(s)
Post by: Ted on November 05, 2017, 11:14:32 AM
Just installed a centre stand in time for winter. Yes, it's a PITA with the exhaust so close. I used a drum brake spring removal tool to hook up the spring. Easy.

When it arrived from ebay it had two springs. I installed the longer one, but have no idea why the second one was included. Any guesses?

If it is the stock standard centre stand one spring should be small and fits inside of the larger spring. They should both be fitted.

+1 to what 1018c said. The smaller diameter spring fits inside of the larger one and they are installed in the same location. This gives you a stronger spring once both are installed while still being possible to do by hand. I put one inside the other, get both lined up on one peg and then stretch the smaller diameter spring to the other peg before the larger one.

Thanks, folks. Seems like overkill to me, but I'll install the smaller one, too.

I doubt the Suzuki engineers would have bothered either unless they found it necessary.
You don't want to hit a big bump mid-corner and have the center stand smack the ground.
