Hi, I'm trying to fix a 1992 GS which is not firing on the left hand side cylinder.
The engine compression is at 130PSI on the left & 125PSI on the right so I thought I should check the valve clearances.
Both valves at the front are too tight (less than 0.04mm at most anyway) so I believe this could be the reason for the low compression?
Anyway, I was using this video to show me how to check the valve clearances:

And the engine seems to be a lot dryer than mine, does this mean there is too much oil in the engine?
It seems to be pooling everywhere. Is this normal? I've attached an album below with different pics, can someone please take a look and tell me if I'm worrying over nothing?

Looks pretty normal. How long was the bike sitting before you opened it up? Possible the bike in the video was just sitting a lot longer.
Make sure you always let the bike cool overnight before checking valve clearances.
Thanks for clearing that up. The bike has hardly been used (700 miles in the last 10 years) but it has been ridden for 15 miles recently.

Let us know what the compression is after you adjust the valves. It is much better to have them a little too loose than a little too tight. Remember to hold the throttle wide open when you check the compression.
