Title: PSA if you like pod filters...
Post by: mr72 on November 20, 2017, 08:54:09 AM
Motorcycle Superstore is closing out all kinds of stuff in the wake of their acquisition, and one thing interesting is that for $7.99 they have a UNI pod filter kit (2x filters) for GS500. Get them while they're hot... and cheap.

I'm looking on their mobile site right now.....theres some great deals on a ton of stuff. But does the search function work on the normal (not mobile) site?

Yea, I don't think the regular site search feature is there anymore. Looks like they just have everything they have left listed on the main page and you have to scroll through it all. Doesn't look like you can search by your bike anymore either. Wonder when the merger happened? I was just browsing tires a month or so ago and it would redirect me to JP Cycles every time I clicked a tire. I thought that was weird....now I know.

Shouldnt part of the PSA be to not put pod filters on a GS500?

The site is really weird. I saw that they had the Schuberth C3 helmets for a unheard of low price so I clicked on it and it just took me to JP cycles which lists the helmet at normal retail price.

Yeah, their site is all kinds of wonky. Many of the good deals are in odd sizes / limited colors / etc. Plus the shopping cart doesn't always accept what you put into it. But there are some good deals to be had - the Motocentric jackets co.e to mind.

They still email me every day, "up to 95% off LAST CHANCE" etc.

I didn't try searching the site, so I don't know if that works. I just browsed everything in the categories I was interested in. The UNI filters were in the "motorcycle parts" section. Almost surely they are sold out now.

FWIW I got a decent 3/4 helmet (spare for passenger etc.) in a quite usable size medium (fits like my Sedici large) for $13!! And a summer mesh armored jacket MSRP about $200 in approximately my size (XL ... it's a little bit big but I can wear a sweatshirt under it) for about $30, and a pair of $200 "sport touring" boots (which I probably will hate, maybe learn to tolerate) again in very close to my size (12 ... these fit a bit big for 12s but they will work) also for about $30. I feel like I did pretty well, considering for less than the normal cost of just the helmet I got a helmet, jacket and boots.

Most of the shoes/boots they had were odd sizes like men's 6-7 or 13+ and most jackets and helmets were XS, S and XXL+.  So if you are 5'2" and 120 lb or 6'5" and 300 lb then you can make a killer deal on some accessories.

BTW I was not recommending pod filters. I think they're nearly as bad of a hipster idea as skinny jeans and a man bun, only the fashion faux pas won't make your bike run worse.

But this was a smokin' deal if you are just dying to give it a try.

For an even more smokin' deal, I have a pair of pod filters someone can have for free. I guarantee you won't be able to make the bike idle correctly with them. But it may be worth a try. Get it out of your system. Kind of like skinny jeans and a man bun.
