Title: Damaged front fairing - best way to fix?
Post by: kryptek49 on December 14, 2017, 01:41:42 PM
Hi all,

Almost done now with all my bike maintenance & repairing small bits

The previous owner dropped the bike and knocked a hole out of the front fairing below the indicator:

Any ideas what the best way to repair this would be? Its only a small bit missing so I don't want to have to respray the entire thing to fix it.  Is there another way around this?

Thanks

If seen people use hard plastic cut to the shape and spray painted then epoxy on the back.

Use epoxy resin (such as West Systems) fibreglass patch over the inside, let that harden then mask off around damaged area on outside and use a filler or better, epoxy resin and flocking (thickener) to render up above surface, then sand and wet 'n dry back to surface shape. Then paint. Matching the colour will be difficult, but at least it's not in a very prominent position.
