Title: Alternator rotor replacement

Hi
The magnets in my rotor have broken up and I am looking for a replacement, is there any from other models I can use, having trouble getting hold of a replacement for my 1997 gs500e

I assume you mean the alternator? Can't help but suggets clarification may help you get help.

The trouble hasn't even started yet ... wait till you realizes you need that infamous sliding hammer to take off the rotor and that you may have goats ...

After getting a rotor I started by stripping down the motor and saw why you need the famous hammer puller, I tried the method they described in the Haynes manual using a 36mm bar and a m14 1.5 bolt to force it of, didn't work, unable to get hold of a hammer pulley I made one using the m14 bolt welded to a 1ft metal bar with square plate at the end and a sledge hammer head as the pulley, after 2 attempts of it came, after a good clean up its now back up and running. :woohoo:
