Title: 2007 ge500f carb/hose routing question?
Post by: saxij on February 24, 2018, 06:00:01 PM
Hey so I'm working on a 2007 gs500f project and just swapped a different engine into it. It does start up and can idle with choke on for the most part.

What I'm worried about the most is if my hoses/lines are connected correctly. Does this T-Joint line go to the rear male end of the frame mounted petcock? I can provide additional pictures. Thanks.

From what I can see, yes. One side of the T will go to the RH carb vacuum takeoff and the other goes to the solenoid valve. Middle is for the petcock.

Thanks everyone I figured it out, I found a more supplemental manual online. The bike now is running super rich, stock jets and brass plugs still in so no one has messed with the pilot mix screw. I figure it should be running  a bit lean if anything  :dunno_black: carbs/jets super clean now.  Only idles on full choke and dies when I touch the throttle.  I thought maybe it could be a vacuum issue but now I'm guessing it's all carb related.  :icon_neutral:

Only idles on full choke and dies with throttle sounds like its running lean, not rich... Sounds like a massive vacuum leak to me.

I'm smelling alot of unburnt gas coming out of the muffler. It would make so much more sense if there was a major vacuum leak, I'll double check all the vacuum lines and intake boots when I get back to working in it on Wednesday.

So I sat down and went over the vacuum/pair system and I think I figured it out. I'm not an artist but can anyone confirm if this is the correct routing?? Thanks

I was right, that was the correct routing.
