Title: Yet another rattley engine recording thread!

Bike is running well again however I have a rattley sound that comes and goes. Last time I checked which was not long ago the cam chain was tight and the tensioner was working well and well lubed. It doesn't sound like the tappets themselves which are about .06mm. It is more apparent on start up but goes away yet I can hear it when I'm on the highway.

Not sure if the above recording can give any clues.

Sounds like it could be in the lower 1/2. Not cam shaft end float/clearance.
Can you pin point it ? Could be goats too. Left side alternator coil and rotor ducking each other up.

Doesn't sound at all bad to me, remember this is an air-cooled twin, It's never going to be as quiet as a liquid cooled engine.

From what I can hear, it sounds like tappets (loose valves) to me.
It appears to be at camshaft speed (half crank speed) but of course that is difficult to be certain of on an audio clip.

thanks for the replies, I was going to get some more recording up as that one was just place on a chair near the top of the engine. As you know these sounds change depending on the position of the mic. Unfortunately I left the ignition on and flattened the battery, which is currently charging. Doh!.

Often I'll be riding along and hear it rattling, and I'll instinctively grab the keys because that's what it sounds like, then it sounds like its coming from directly below the tank. I was wondering if a valve guide can come loose?
