Title: Reinstall Intake Boots
Post by: hgodfrey on March 16, 2018, 01:13:11 AM
I've removed the carb for inspection and cleaning. Ready to reinstall, but I just removed the intake boots for cleaning and inspection. When I re-attach the boots to the cylinder intake do I just bolt it back down, or is there some "trick-of-the-trade" recommended lube or sealant I should apply? Similarly do I use threadlocker on the bolts or specifically keep it dry?!?

Also, is there a recommended torque spec, or is it simply just snug it down by hand?!?

Do not go anywhere near that thing with thread locker. Just bolt on to cyl head. I use some gasket maker on that O ring, but that's probably unneccesary.

To get the carbs on, I spray the boots and mouth with wd40. So the carbs will get into it and make a nice thunk bottoming out feel/sound. Then tighten the clamps down.

Cool.
