I have owned my 1991 GS500e for about a year now and I just found this site. It seems to have alot of great information.
One quick question though, has anyone found a new supply/source for the V&H Ignition Advancer (#V21926) ???
This is somethingthat I am very interested in.
Thank in advance...
as far as I know V&H discontinued that part...once in awhile they pop-up on e-bay....
Welcome to the site. This place has an incredible amount of info and some great people...
Check out the Modifications section of the site. There are DIY instructions for advancing the timing.
you can modify your own or you can send it to bob bruissard and he will advance the timing for a small charge...
that's the only thing you can do since V&H doesn't make them any more...but you can also find a used one on ebay but they sell more a lot more then new
how do I find bob bruissard?
send him a PM (private message) or maybe he'll see this topic and answer...or you could do a search because i think he put his address on this forum and you could just send it to him
Here is Bob's profile: http://www.gstwins.com/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=21
Click on the "Private Message" icon to send him a PM, or on his "Email address" icon to ... you guessed it ... send him an email.
If you want to know what you're asking him to do, check out these old threads:

Welcome
Sorry, double post...
Welcome to the Board!
I tracked a V&H advancer on ebay last week. It finally sold for $61.00 after a flurry of bidding activity, with no bids from forum members other than me (as far as I could tell). That was the first one I've seen in over three months. That tells me that if V&H decided to kick out another batch, that they wouldn't have any trouble selling them to GS owners; as long as they posted it here. ;)
Here's a link for the how-to for the DIY ignition advancer, taken off this site: http://www.gstwin.com/diy_timing_advance.htm It doesn't appear terribly difficult; the only thing you'd need is a small rat-tail file or dremel tool. Bob Brussard can also do it for you if your faith in your mechanical skills leaves something to be desired.
welcome!
check out my site (if you havent already) for lots of useful info and also the home page of www.gstwin.com
V&H on ebay always go for $$$...Bob will do it for the cost of shipping, or about $5.
Enjoy!
Welcome, Welcome
