Title: Bike running strange after taking baffle out of new exhaust?
Post by: mrdrprof on May 15, 2018, 06:10:34 PM
I just recently put on a slip-on Delkevic mufler, installed a K&N drop-in air filter and rejetted the carbs with 20 pilots, 62.5 mids and 142.5 mains (I looked at the rejetting chart on the forum and that's what was recommended for a similar setup). It was running great, but then I took the baffle out to see how it would sound and now at WOT I can feel a small dip in power at about 8k RPM but then comes back from there to redline. Why would this happen? It can't be running too rich because it ran fine with the baffle in and I don't think it would be running lean either. This is on a 2004 GS500F if that helps

Baffle causes changes to exhaust flow and will affect jetting requirements.  Most aftermarket exhausts with the baffle out are basically straight pipes...

Might want to PM Buddha, he's our resident jetting guru.
