Hey guys, recently I have opened my engine to check the health (or the lack of it) ... and I had a bunch of surprises... some good.. some not so good.
One that I could found any record on google, was that the gear on the crankshaft that is connected to the gear on the counterbalance slipped to the right side.. and was literally shaving the aluminum case.
As I do not know what previous owners have done with my engine.. for now.. I just CAREFULLY hammered the gear into the right position using a piece of wood, and sometimes a steel rod with a thick textile to not hurt the gear.... I was always hiting and rotating the gear (the crack shaft).. after 10 min I was satisfied with the result.
Again... my main intention with this post is to leave this issue recorded for others.
I also found aluminum shavings at the oil pump filter (metal meshed ) inside the engine.
cheers
Has the gear slipped off its land or are the thrust bearings worn or missing?
The gear has slipped... about 5mm.. or so!
But as I said... I really don't know what previous owners have done... maybe someone has put it wrongly (I doubt). The engine has suffered some bad experiences.. this I can guarantee.. I saw A lot of improvised screws.. the cylinder is already with 14.75. The bearing of the connecting rod was put in the wrong size.... (see picture )
Tough life... :2guns:
When I look at the innards of this bike - I wonder how it ever ran even 1000 miles.
Seriously, and I know most others ae built worse than this.

I seriously believe there was a quality control issue on Suzuki's part. shaZam! that would get recalled in cars ASAP. seems to be "acceptable" on motorcycles. anyone remember that short lived issue with the busa's calipers EXPLODING? it turned out that those calipers had some sort of voids/defects in the casting. did Suzuki ever make a recall. No, because exploding calipers due to voids in the castings wasn't concern for recall????
or the whole "VW" cheating emissions thing OH LETS SLANDER VW. Meanwhile, Harley got hit doing the exact same thing, at the exact same time and got caught!! but not even a peep...
