Greetings All. I'm replacing the wind screen on my 2006 GS500F and having trouble getting it out after removing all screws and the mirrors. There doesn't seem to be any other fasteners that I can see. Is there a trick here or am I just being too careful not to break something. Thanks.

Watch the above video...not a gs500 but very similar design and attach method. Note that the "rubbers" sort of are stuck... for being on there for a while....bit of pulling and shoving needed...gentle though...
I looked a the drawings from the shop manual...looks like there are only 5 hold down screws...and five of the rubber stoppers holding on the windshield on the GS500...no hidden fasteners that I can see...
Hope this helps you...

If I remember there are only three screws holding it in. After you get those out you probably have to do some pushing and pulling of the fairing. As twocool said, there are some rubber bungs things that the two upper screws go into. You have to pop those out or bend the fairing enough for them to come loose.
The truly proper way to do it to make sure you don't break anything is to remove the entire plastic "dash" before removing the windscreen. This will also make it easier to install the replacement windscreen.
As someone who did change the windshield, theres 5 screws holding it in place.
3 in the front(middle and one each side) and 2 on the back all the way on the top of the plastics( on the inside). I dont have access to the bike at the moment otherwise i'd take pictures, but i do have an exploded view of the front cowling.
Its probably the 2 screws on the inside you are missing, and it requires some wiggleing to get it out, worst case you have to remove the inside plastics(2 on the picture) to get it free.
Hope this helps
