Title: Whats your EDC? (Every Day Carry)
Post by: Watcher on December 11, 2018, 10:51:51 PM
What do you take with you when you leave the house every day?  My EDC loadout has expanded quite a bit since I became an active member of society, and I find at a bare minimum I take everything pictured here with me everywhere I go.

(https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/921/p02tHr.jpg) (https://imageshack.com/i/plp02tHrj)

Working clockwise from my firearm:

S&W Shield 2.0 in a StealthGearUSA Ventcore Appendix holster (that I wear at 4:30)
Spyderco Sage Liner-Lock (LOVE this knife.  The carbon scales are grippy yet non-abrasive, blade steel is exceptional, perfect size)
Citizen Avian wearing a NATO Strap Co. "Black-Ops II" watchband
FlipSide wallet with the business-card attachment
Leatherman Micra (my newest acquisition, much better than the SOG CrossCut I tried previously)
my keys on a Black Diamond "screw gate" locking carabiner
Carmex chapstick (nothing else works as well, in my experience, and in the dry desert this is a must have)
Fischer "Bullet" Space Pen
Olight i3t EOS Cu flashlight.  I originally got the normal black-anodized aluminum EOS and liked it so much I got a second one in copper.  The black one lives in my tank-bag, the copper one is getting a nice patina as I'm carrying it.
And not pictured (since it's picturing) my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

For the most part everything here is something I do actually use semi-daily, or at least have had need for in the past and was worse without.  Probably the most interesting task is performed by the Micra.
I do bluetooth helmet installations on the regular, and since I'm particularly anal about wiring I modify the plastic "skirt" on helmet cheek-pads to tuck the wires from the bluetooth unit as cleanly as possible.  I find these small scissors work much better than your typical full-size scissors as they're much stiffer at the tips, and they're also much safer to use than a razor.  Beyond that, the other small tools have their occasional uses.
The tool is small and light enough, I see no reason why I shouldn't bring this with me outside of areas I expect to be doing bluetooth installs, lol!

No picture of it all right now but I carry a Bersa Thunder CC .380. Its definitely not quite a 9mm or a .40 S&W but with 9 rounds and a nice crisp pull I like it a lot. I run Fiocchi Extrema XTP all the time and shoot well with it. It's carried in a "Theis" single clip holster carried at 5 o'clock.

I also carry a Buck Folding Hunter 110

I am not quite up to par with everything else as you are and usually carry my keys on a lanyard and some mint Blistex lip balm for the dry cold Idaho air.

I hate having stuff in my pockets or on me so I only carry the bare essentials. Usually my Ruger LCP with the clip and no holster or depending on where I am going maybe the Kahr CM9 in the alien gear holster. I keep my phone in one pocket (Pixel 2), wallet in the other and a few guitar picks in my right back pocket. If I need anything else, I bring a bag.

Aside from the phone and wallet - only item I carry pretty much everyday is my Gerber compact MP400 - about 20 odd years now.. still going strong - use it probably 2-3 times a day at least on average.

I used to waste a lot of time at EDCForums.  Sort of backed out of it once I got my gear settled.

Wallet
Keys with Tec Accessories P7 pocket dangler.
"Keychain" tools also on a P7:  Leatherman Style CS, Pockettweez II, Whistle with integral pill fob containing $50 bill, Brass pill fob with Benadryl for my wife.
iPhone 6s in Otter case (work)
Motorola Moto e6 (personal)
Flashlight: 4-Sevens Quark 123^2 Turbo.  (due for upgrade)
Knife: CRKT M16-14Z part serrated Tanto.  Also due for upgrade but I've been saying that for most of a decade and haven't found one I like better that's affordable.
Pen:  Fisher Bullet "Space Pen"
Glasses:  Dollar store readers.  May or may not be in a M&Ms Minis tube for a case.
Probably a small tin of snuff.
Even more probably a pipe, tobacco pouch, tamper, multiple lighters.
Optionally a full-size Leatherman.  Either an original Supertool or Sideman (or was it the Wingkick?  I don't recall.  I got one, my kid got the other, we swapped some of the tools around to fit our needs and re-named them.)
Ear bud headphones.  Wired and/or bluetooth.
A few other bits and bobs.

Yes, I rattle when I walk.  :D

That's what I mean by "carry a bag" :)

I have a surprising collection of bags. Just can't stand carrying all that junk on my person.

LOL! Yeah, I know it's a lot and I often carry a bag as well.  I've tried going minimalist, putting it all in my smallest messenger bag.  It doesn't take long before it's all back in pockets.  Part of the problem is other people who know I have scissors, nail file, meds, fire, writing instruments, tools, etc. and expect me to produce whatever is needed in the moment.  It's also saved my own hiney more times and ways than I could ever count.  But it certainly isn't a lifestyle choice for everyone.  It used to be much worse but both my job and vehicle require fewer tools these days.

FourSevens is back, if you mised the announcement.  They've been picked up by Prometheus.

I've been carrying a Quark AA that's becoming a little long in the tooth, and in truth it has a lot of modes I never use.  I bought my few Olights recently in lieu of getting a Preon and just my luck, the Preon is being made again...

Have you considered a pocket organizer of any kind?

Despite all my stuff I move rather stealthily.  I usually have only one or two things to a pocket (for example, wallet left front and flashlight clipped to the left front).  For my Leatherman I picked up an elastic sleeve that goes on my belt, the tool inserts into it horizontally, works awesome.  I wear it over my right front pocket and it is high enough not to block access to the pocket.  Got it from StealthGearUSA, it's designed as a mag carrier, works well for other stuff.

Have you tried a fanny pack or a leg-bag?

Usually that just adds capacity, so I find more things to fill it with.  It's a sickness...  :cookoo: :D
