CHANGE OF PLAN: It's all going. Check out this thread here. http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=72964.0 (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=72964.0)
Hi all.
After pootling about with my various GS500 projects over the last few years, I've decided (or rather, been told) that some of the crates/bikes/frames/random bits etc in the garage have to go. This means I've got pretty much the equivalent of four full bikes worth of parts (inc frames with V5s) sitting in crates that people can take their pick from. Basically, if you need a part and you're in the UK then give me a shout and I'll go see how many I've got and what state they're in.
Yes, there's usable tanks, plenty of fairings (damaged and undamaged), at least two complete running engines with three or four more in a million pieces, forks in good nick (some with pre-adjusters), bar risers of different heights, more carbs than I could shake a stick at. I'll try taking some pics of what I've got and hosting it somewhere (probably a mate's Instagram) and if anything takes your fancy just make me an offer.
I'm based near Luton so anyone nearby can collect or if you're within about twenty miles and chuck in some petrol money and I'll happily drop bits off at weekends. Also happy to post stuff if buyer pays postage.
And if anyone would feel safer going via ebay I'll stick selected bits up there with a silly high 'buy it now' price and then you can send me a pre-agreed 'offer' price which I'll accept and we can go through paypal with buyer protection and all that stuff.
And if anyone wants to make a *serious* offer for the whole lot (keep in mind you'd need a large transit van to move them all) then feel free. There's also a working bike (J reg) that a mate was using as a daily rider for a while that I'll probably chuck up here too once we've finished building his café racer.
Cheers, TQM
EDIT1: the first batch of pictures is up. Still a lot more there to go. I'll try and have a crack at packing more bits away next weekend and snapping pics while I'm at it.
EDIT2: Sorry guys and gals but I'm not posting any large/heavy bits farther than Europe. I've had too many bits go missing on the way to the US, Middle East, Australia etc before to be doing it again.
Headlights/indicators/mirrors/tail-lights - various
Notes: The headlight brackets sitting on the baggies seem to be brand new, though the indicators attached to them are used.
Note: One of the headlights is the version without a sidelight
Clocks and carbs
Notes: Two of the carbs look decent - butterflies move freely, slides... well, slide ok - the third looks a bit rubbish and should prob' just be stripped for parts.
Notes: One of the speedos has a snapped mounting bolt, another a faded dial, but should be able to merge the two for a working clock.
Cush drive
Loom/Regulator-Rectifier/Switchgear
Notes: One of the left switch gear has been cut through on the wiring by the previous owner for expediency when he removed the forks. Was told it worked before it was cut so would just need connecting back together.
Notes: Two of the RegRec are 2+3 pins, two are 4+3 pins.
Starter motor/Sidestand switches/idiot light loom/magneto coils/ignition coils
Various clutch+choke+tach cables/speedo drive/timing covers
Front brake master cylinders + levers/clutch levers
Brake calipers/rear caliper dust covers/rear footpegs+brake levers+rear master cylinders
Steering stems/top yokes/risers
Notes: one of the top yokes is the later version taking track bars rather than the older type with risers.
Swingarms/swingarm adjusters/chain guards
Carb rubbers/gear change levers
Forks/front mudguards
Front sprocket covers/grab rails
Footpegs/left foorpeg hanger/centre stand/side stand/spindles
Various shims/rear shock mount/chain/petcocks
Carb slides/dogbones/frame plugs/fork plugs/exhaust bumpstop/rear caliper mount/choke lever/bar ends/rear caliper torsion bar
Note: Slides are part numbers 13501-01DG0 and 1350-02D10
Part complete project bike
If I recall correctly, this is a R reg bike (R715 RRY) with a running engine (though the carbs were rough as hell) with a working clutch, gearbox, exhaust, charging system etc. Of the GS500s I was working on this was the next one on my list to get back on the road. The tank's full of varnish though, so I'd suggest using one of the others.
Fuel tank
Sanded and primered - no dents and looks pretty decent inside. It's got some fork oil splashed on it from where I had to piston a fork by hand.
Fairings
One of the pairs of red rear panels has holes bored in it as the previous owner had pannier frames welded to the frame.
The blue set's all sanded, primed and had its first coat of blue on and that's as far as I got.
Two of the middle sections still have the tabs intact, the third's chipped to buggery.
Front wheel rim / engine bars
These were cleaned, sanded, and painted, but could probably do with doing again.
Rolling frame/suspension/wheels
This is the project I was actively working on before the plug got pulled. The frame was cleaned/derusted and painted, the fork seals/oil replaced, progressive springs installed, new ignition/fuelcap/seat locks sourced. I have the V5 and original number plate.
What a treasure trove!
PM sent with details bits of interest to me.
NB: I have those crash bars on my bike and they are the biz - rock solid protection and somewhere to rest your feet on long motorway journeys. Someone should snap them up asap.
Happy trails, grunts
Hi, bit of a long shot but do you have a spare cylinder head? I've got a 500f and my valve guide hole warped under heat putting a new one in so is useless now.
Cheers

I've got a few in crates out in the garage. You're welcome to come take a look if you're local.
