OK. I have been offered a 1999 GS500E in poor condition. All the body work is trashed( scratched up good), Lights broken, Last running 6 month ago. It has been stored in a back shed in the snow belt ( cold/hot cold/hot) It also has 50K on the clocks. Best of all the ownership still shows a lean on the title.
I'm looking at the bike this coming weekend. They want $800.00 OBO as is. I'm told the damage was done by the current owner in a drunken state of stupidity. In other words not crash damage and the bikes straight and drivable.
I'm looking at this as a Track / Parts bike. If I like the fit of the 2004 GS500F I will be selling all my current rides (5) to get one. This would be a track bike or a doner for my GS F
I will try to boost and run the 1999 when looking at it.
first find out what the lien amt is. then the book value etc. then post back, with pics?'cause if you've got to pay 8 benji's first then a payoff, dunno.... :dunno:
Lowball the hell out of him ...50k miles .... Like yama said...see what the payoff is and MAYBE offer that......
50K K Kilometres about 31K Miles $800 CDN is about $600 US.
The lean doesn't bother me. I can get a 1994 frame with clean title for $300. I have a UK fairing with lights and the some old GSXR instruments. Fairing is nice looking http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=25632&item=2451667332#ebayphotohosting Picked it up off Ebay.
OK. I saw the GS today. Nasty Ugly thing. Very abused. Fork tubes Pitted. Laid down at highway speeds. All the cosmetics need replacing. Instruments are OK. Muffler crushed. Tanks leaks.
On the good side. Rebuilt bottom end. Frame Front end straight. The Lean is due in April this year.
If I can sell one of my other bikes this ones comimg home.
Run away from it. You can do much better I'm sure. Hell, I got mine for $2500. It's a 2002 with 3800 miles in excellent condition.
