Title: Wheelies
Post by: vegbiker on March 04, 2004, 09:13:06 PM
I'm not condoning reckless behavior, but someone I know says GSs aren't wheelie machines. Do any of you get up on one wheel? I imagine it's possible. Any pictures would be great (if you already have them - don't go out and take pictures of yourselves doing wheelies just for me ;) )

Look close, that isn't a GSXR.

Yes, the GS can wheelie. It just has to be clutch wheelied. Ie: from a slow speed in 1st. Clutch in, rev to 8~9K rpm, clutch out, hold on to your lunch.

Or get a 15tooth front sprocket, and learn some technique and it will get up like like a old man on viagra. A little bit slower, but still to the same effect.

Yes, indeedy, wheelies are possible.  Pantablo, one of our moderators, includes a picture of him pulling said wheely, in his signature block.

I did them all the time as a restless youth on my bicycle.  I'm happy to let others demonstrate the art on their motorized two-wheelers, torturing their clutches and chains along the way.  I gotta believe it shortens the life of both considerably.
