Just wondering, since I've never really heard another properly running GS500 (let alone another GS500 at all); How does this bike sound in the video I posted on YouTube. I know it's not the same as hearing the bike at idle in person, but this video will give you an idea. The bike seems to run good, though this bike is my first and it would hard for me to tell otherwise. This is a 2009 with 15,000 some odd kilometers about 9,500 miles). Tell me your honest thoughts.

Sounds great. Remember these engines are mid 70s technology and dont have a layer of water cooling to dampen noises.
If it sounds like a lawnmower humping a sewing machine you have a properly running GS500.
Nice clean bike too!
I think it sounds great! Sounds just like mine when it had the stock exhaust. The GS500 does make a pretty good amount of valve train noise but its nothing to worry about as long as oil is being moved around. I agree too it looks like a great bike and I am sure that you keep up with the maintenance! :thumb: Just give it time to warm up, keep the oil level high and it should be a good bike for you!
My GS, the exhaust is so quiet and the top end so loud, you hear more valve than engine. A lot quieter than my last GS though, which despite perfect clearances, a healthy CCT and healthy valves made a crazy ticking noise.
Thanks guys! Really appreciate the feedback! Glad to hear that she's sounding good. I'll update some pics of her when I have her out next time for you to see and attach to this post :). *RELIEF.
